Community Survey
Take the community survey* to share your experiences, thoughts, and ideas for the future of Clay County's parks and historical sites.
Key elements for a statistically valid survey:
- Representative Sample: The people you survey must reflect the demographics of your larger target population. A random sampling method is crucial to avoid bias, as it ensures everyone has an equal chance of being selected.
- Adequate Sample Size: The number of people who respond must be large enough for the results to be meaningful. The required size depends on factors like the total population, desired confidence level, and acceptable margin of error.
- High Response Rate: A low response rate can indicate that non-responders have significantly different opinions from those who did respond, which invalidates the results. A higher response rate increases the likelihood that the sample is representative.
- Clear and Accurate Questions: Questions must be clear, unbiased, and easy for respondents to understand to ensure truthful and accurate answers.
- Low Margin of Error: This is the potential for error in the results, expressed as a "plus or minus" percentage (e.g., +/-5%). A smaller margin of error requires a larger sample size.
- Confidence Level: This indicates how confident you are that your results reflect the population within the margin of error, most commonly set at 95%. A 95% confidence level means you are 95% confident the true result is within your margin of error.
