About the Project
Platte City is embarking on an ambitious endeavor: creating both the Downtown Plan and Parks & Recreation Master Plan simultaneously. By coordinating these planning processes, the Plans will complement and reinforce one another, leading to a stronger Platte City for all residents and visitors.
- Downtown Plan. Platte City is developing a plan for the future of downtown. The plan will be a guide to enhancing the streetscapes and facades, improving connectivity to and within downtown, identifying new housing opportunities, increasing economic development, promoting redevelopment, and more!
- Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Platte City is undertaking a Parks & Recreation Master Plan for the first time ever! The plan will evaluate all the existing parks, trails, green spaces, and recreational facilities. It will also include recommendations for enhancing the City's existing amenities and proposing new park and recreation features.
Timeline
Spring 2025
The consultant team will be collecting data to understand the area's conditions and trends. Also, the team will be meeting stakeholders to understand people’s perception (ideas and issues) facing downtown and the citywide parks and recreation system.
Summer 2025
The consultant team will design concepts for the future of downtown and the parks & recreation system. Input and feedback with stakeholders during the Design Studio (July 16/17) will be critical to the plan’s recommendations.
Fall 2025
The consultant team will prepare a publication of ideas to share at an Open House on December 17th, 2025.
Winter 2025
The consultant team will incorporate community feedback and develop the reports, including strategies for implementing each plan such as priorities and magnitude of costs.
